Jay-z Respond to VMA Incident

Jay-Z doesn’t hold grudges. But during a phone interview with HOT 97’s Angie Martinez yesterday (September 23), the most powerful man in hip-hop provided his take on Lil' Mama’s stage-crashing episode at the 2009 VMAs.

Is Jay-Z still mad at Lil Mama for crashing his VMA performance? Shortly after the incident (for which Lil Mama has apologized profusely), Jay explained to Angie that he could never replicate her actions, especially during a performance of that magnitude.

“Me, personally, I would never do that; I would never have the nerve to do that. To interrupt that moment for us, I don’t think that was the right thing to do,” Jay-Z explained via telephone while visiting the U.K. to promote his newest project, “Blueprint 3.” He added, “I thought it was the equivalent to what Kanye did to Taylor Swift, but no one really talks about that because I’m not a sweet little girl from the middle of America.”

Jay said he understood Lil' Mama’s move because of the mood the performance set, but he also stressed the detailed work that went into the four-minute performance. “I’m cool with her being excited and all that, but you also have to understand that people put in work to make that performance happen. That took weeks,” said Mr. Carter.

Jay continued, “The planning of it – if you look at those screens, we had to go to Yankee Stadium, we shot that live. There was a lot of planning that went into that.”

As for his feelings at that exact moment, the Brooklyn mogul said he had to suppress his emotions. “Yeah I was a little angry, but what am I going to do, fight Lil' Mama? What, I’m going to tussle with her [laughs]?”

Probation

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Chris Brown cleared weeds and debris at police horse stables in Virginia on Wednesday for the first day of his 180-day court-ordered community service for beating ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

The 20-year-old R&B singer worked along with two others who were serving probation, clearing tall weeds and brush by hand and with yard tools. Additional officers were on hand, but only a few fans and television crews gathered nearby.

Dressed in an orange vest, white tank top, baggy jeans and red baseball cap, Brown did not speak to the media but he waved to fans who saw him working.

Brown's schedule, including work hours and days, will be flexible, and he will be performing different types of manual labor, Richmond Police spokesman Gene Lepley said. Police will not reveal when or where Brown will be working in hopes of avoiding security and logistical problems, he said.

"We'll just take a look at it day by day and certainly would ask for the cooperation of the public and Chris' fans so that he is able to satisfy the work requirements," Lepley said.

Brown must pay for the extra guards who work while he is performing community service. He was sentenced in California last month to five years' probation, six months of community labor and a year of domestic violence counseling for the February attack.

He is performing the labor and undergoing counseling in Richmond, near his home in Montpelier.

The Falcons are led by first year head coach Dave Clawson, who comes to BGSU after a successful career at Fordham and Richmond. Clawson, who is 1-3 in his brief Falcon career, is 59-52 overall in 10 seasons as a head coach.

The Falcon offense is led by third-year signal caller, Tyler Sheehan, who will be making his 30th consecutive start on Saturday. Through his first 29 games as a Falcon he has thrown for 7,131 yards and 48 touchdowns. Through four games in 2009 the senior ranks second in the MAC and 11th nationally with 309.3 yards per game through the air.

Sheehan’s main offensive weapon is fellow classmate Freddie Barnes, who after four games this season, has already amassed 46 receptions, including a school-record 15 versus Troy and a new school record 17 versus Marshall. Barnes’ 46 reception are tops in the nation.

In the backfield, Willie Geter has emerged as an every down back, having rushed for 221 yards on 46 carries (4.8 avg.) through the first four games of 2009.

Minus the contest with Boise State the Falcon defense has been a strong point in 2009. On the year the Falcons are allowing 26.8 points and 383.0 yards per game.

Middle linebacker Cody Basler leads the team with 31 tackles, four tackles for loss and two sacks. He has also forced one fumble and has one quarterback hurry in his first-year as an every day starter.

Virginia NAACP Upset Over Obama Banner

The head of the Virginia NAACP said Monday that a banner outside a downtown Richmond strip club portraying President Obama as a the white-faced, red-lipsticked Joker villain in “Batman” is an attack on Black men everywhere.

"Not only is it an attack on the president, but also on all men and people of African descent," King Salim Khalfani, president of the Virginia NAACP, said of what he called "the abomination that's on the wall" outside Club Velvet.

Khalfani wants the strip joint to take down banner immediately. It was raised in recent days with the words “socialism” underneath the image of the Joker, portrayed by the late Heath Ledger in the Batman movie "The Dark Knight."

Club owner Sam Moore describes himself as a "staunch libertarian" who is in strong opposition to Obama’s policies. He says, however, that he is not opposed to president as an individual. "Mr. Moore would like to say that anyone who believes that his banner is racist is an ignoramus," read a sign being carried by one of the strippers.

But Khalfani and other critics say the banner is emblematic of the rising tide of racism in America that was ignited when Obama, the nation’s first African-American president, was elected. The steady, increasingly ugly attacks against the president and his policies are unprecedented, they say. Even former President Jimmy Carter has said that racism is behind the attacks. Former President Bill Clinton, on the other hand, has said that race has little to do with the current hostile political climate.

"Racism is as American as apple pie," Khalfani said. "The presence of a president that has African blood is very, very troublesome to many in this country."

Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat line is known for its glitzy details, bold colors, and instant glamour at affordable prices. The Spring 2010 show was more of the mall-ready fabulosity that has lured Phat fans for years. The show went down at the famed Roseland Ballroom in Midtown NYC and stars like Kim Kardashian, LeToya Luckett, Wale, Raheem DeVaughn, Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker were spotted in the front row. Kicking up the fabulosity on the technology tip, the collection of bright summer looks was also broadcast live to fans down the street in Times Square.

Kimora Lee Lee cited 1970s Morocco as an inspiration. Fittingly, there were flirty shift dresses with tiled prints reminiscent of Mediterranean ceramic ware and a couple of azure blue mini-dresses with bell sleeves and subtle draping perfect for heady summer nights. There were also some straight-up glam looks that were less dune-covered Morocco and more downtown Manhattan, like two-toned sequined leggings, cropped denim jackets and a sassy cocktail frock with a gathered skirt.

DJ Cassidy cranked out old-school jams while models like Sessilee Lopez pounded down the glitter-laden runway. At the close of the show, the funky strains of Michael Jackson’s “PYT” pumped into the ballroom and four models in colored leggings and a single sparkly glove posed and spelled out the word “baby” with letters on the front of their t-shirts. The models made the final walk and posed at the beginning of the runway once more to reveal the word “phat” on the back of their shirts. Then, flanked by her young daughters Aoki and Ming and cradling her sleeping newborn Kenzo, Lee took a bow on the catwalk. The crowd met her with thunderous applause and a standing ovation

So much for a hiatus……Mr. West just couldn’t do it. And to be quite fair, I don’t blame him. There’s been numerous amounts of occasions where I pledged to remove myself from the grounds of blogging and such. But who am I kidding, this is in my blood just like hip hop/performing is in Mr. West’s.

Last night, Mr. Chi City hopped on stage with BFF’s, Common, Mos Def and Talib Kweli for a benefit concert hosted by Common in L.A. The Hollywood Palladium was treated to Mr. West performing various gems which included verses from “Good Life”, “Make Her Say”, “Run This Town”, “Flashing Lights” and “Get Em High”.

I can imagine the rush Yeezy was feeling when he finally touched the stage again, especially after all the mud slinging he’s been receiving since his famous outburst on Sep 13. Well Mr. West, we’re glad to have you back. Just promise us NO. MORE. AWARD. SHOW. RANTS!

Sincerely

Lebron And Obama team up for education

President Barack Obama will be appearing alongside NBA superstar LeBron James and singing sensation and former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson in a back-to-school television special set to air next month.

In the 30-minute documentary scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on Sept. 8 Obama stresses the importance of education as a means to living out an individual’s dream. The president notes, “So as this new school year begins, I urge you to set goals for your own education: to study hard and get involved in your school, to try new things and find something you're passionate about.” He continues, “And that's how our nation will get ahead -- by ensuring that every American gets a world-class education, from preschool to college to a career.’

The program will air on BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Spike TV and VH1, all Viacom networks, as part of an education initiative set forth by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom Inc.

Shes hot as a woman and as an Artist

Nicki Minaj often describes herself as a Barbie doll. But don’t let the cute moniker fool you. Minaj’s aggressive flow and fearless wordplay have pegged her as a rising star within Lil Wayne’s Young Money crew.

The 23-year-old rapper is currently displaying her buzzed-about MC skills on Young Money Presents: America’s Most Wanted Music Festival. Adding 10 new dates this week for a total of 32 shows through Sept. 6, the tour is headlined by Wayne and features Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy Tell’Em, Pleasure P, Jeremih and the Young Money camp.

“The lack of female rappers has in some ways made it easier to come up because now there’s an open lane for me,” Minaj says. “I salute the female rappers who came before me, but it’s my time now.”

Minaj’s third Young Money Entertainment mixtape, “Beam Me Up Scotty,” features guest spots by Drake (who was on the Wanted tour before injuring his knee), Busta Rhymes and Gucci Mane. Despite the set’s impressive list of collaborators, Minaj remains in the foreground and displays a unique female persona in an increasingly male-dominated genre.

For the past two years, Minaj has foregone a major-label deal and a formal debut album in order to establish her fan base. Appearances on a handful of high-profile remixes, from Wyclef Jean’s “Sweetest Girl” to Drake’s chart-topping “Best I Ever Had,” have caught the attention of hip-hop enthusiasts. Minaj’s activity on social networking sites has also allowed her to gain mainstream awareness.

“We’re establishing her online first,” says Portia Kirkland, VP of marketing at Minaj’s management company Mizay Entertainment. “Nicki always stays in touch with her fans through Twitter, MySpace and blogging. We didn’t position her as music but as a lifestyle.”

That lifestyle began to take shape while the Queens-born rapper attended LaGuardia High School, the performing arts school on which the film “Fame” was based. An appearance on Dirty Money’s “The Come Up” street DVD series caught the attention of Lil Wayne, who contacted Minaj and asked her to work with Young Money. Since then, the two have developed a chemistry, with Minaj appearing on his acclaimed 2007 mixtape “Da Drought 3″ and Wayne guesting on all three of her Young Money-issued mixtapes.

“He’s no-holds-barred when he raps, and I’ve always been like that,” Minaj says. “I bring sarcasm and comedy, which [Wayne] connects with. I guess we both dare to be different.”

Though not yet attached to a label deal, Minaj is recording a debut album that she hopes to release early next year. Her main focus now is on the Wanted tour and impressing arena-sized crowds. “It’s intimidating 30 seconds before I go onstage,” Minaj says. “But once I’m out there, it’s all gone. I’m the fearless Barbie doll.”

Should we forgive him ladies????

Chris Brown has been all up in the news this week because of the interview he did with Larry King earlier this week to discuss Chrianna-gate, but Breezy also went head to head with another media mogul: Oprah.

In the new issue of People magazine, Chris stepped to Oprah when asked about her “show on abuse, inspired by Rihanna” and said:

“I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This is a problem,’ but it was a slap in my face I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘Okay, I’m going to help both of these people out.”

In response, Oprah’s rep told TMZ, “Oprah is very appreciative that Chris Brown performed at her school, but she takes domestic abuse very seriously. She hopes he gets the counseling he needs.”

How ironic that Chis called Oprah’s actions a “slap in the face!” Boy stop! Just because you were lucky enough to preform at one of her events doesn’t mean she owes you squat. Period. I wonder how many more media rounds Chris is going to make about before he gets too busy doing that hard labor.

Also, this Sunday a new episode of America’s Best Dance Crew will air on MTV, but last Sunday ‘Lil Mama sparked a bit of controversy because of comments she made to a transgender contestant, Leiomy Maldonado. When her group, Vogue Evolution, complained that Leiomy was being difficult at practice Lil’ Mama said:

“Leiomy, come on. Your behavior…it’s unacceptable. I just feel that you always have to remember your truth. You were born a man and you are becoming a woman. If you’re going to become a woman, act like a lady. Don’t be a bird, like ‘Oh my god, I’m not doing this!’ You know what I’m saying? It gets too crazy and it gets confusing.”

n the eyes of Floyd “Money” Mayweather, “to be the man, you have to beat the man.”

And at 39-0, nobody has been able to beat the 32-year-old welterweight.

Mayweather makes his return to the ring after a nearly two-year layoff on Sept. 19 against Juan Manuel Marquez live on HBO PPV.

Marquez is no stiff himself with a 50-4-1 record.

Mayweather chatted with BET.com just two weeks before his epic return to the ring.

In the first of a three-part interview, Mayweather discusses training for the Marquez fight and when he knew it was time to return to the ring.

You can also check out Part I of “Mayweather/Marquez: 24/7″ (Language NSFW)

On training for his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez:

Training has been coming along great. Having a great training camp. I’ve had excellent sparing. Just looking forward to coming back and putting on a great show for the fans.

K.i.D CuDis music can only be described as the next level of music in our generation and for generations to come. Cudi (originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but spent the last 3 years living in Brooklyn) fuses alternative rock, hip hop and occasionally R & B, to form feel good and emotionally conscious records. His content is filled with witty explanations about himself and his lifes journeys, with a twist of story telling scenerios. His first single Day N Nite is nothing more than a conscious awareness record about his faults and how he deals with them. Im sure everyone has been in at least one or two of the scenerios I mentioned in Day N Night. It was a record designed to let the people out there knowhey, we all have issues. But theres ways to get through and theres always a brighter day ahead filled with answers to the toughest situations; we all get lonely sometimes, its life. With every record, especially Day N Nite, CuDi vows to put his heart into each record, so after hearing each song you can feel like you actually know him. People like records they can relate to, even if you cant relate to something I speak about, youll at least understand my mind, I wont lose anyone. Even if they havent walked in my shoes, theyll feel me for me.

Max B Gets Sentenced 75 Years

Khloe Kardashian Snags The Lakers Candy Man : VIBE.com

Although her sister Kourtney is grabbing the spotlight with her recent pregnancy news, Khloe Kardashian is getting a little media attention, thanks to her new relationship.
Earlier this year, Khloe broke up with her, then boyfriend, Rashad McCants (of the Minnesota Timberwolves), and now she's scored herself another NBA star--the Lakers' 6th man Lamar Odom.

The Buckeyes weathered that storm with the help of a college football rarity.

Brian Rolle intercepted a potential tying 2-point conversion in the closing minutes and returned it for two points the other way, helping the Buckeyes hold off pesky Navy 31-27 on Saturday.

The Return

Michael Vick has returned to the NFL and has unleashed the true dog during the NFL's preseason. Welcome Back
